ANOTHER FAILED ATTEMPT OF BAGAN IN TODAY’S DERBY: EB – 1, MB – 1
By Soumya Dasgupta (TNI Kolkata) ~ Edited by R. Subrata (TNI Siliguri)
Webdesk, TNI Kolkata, 23rd January, 2016: After devouring their Mohun Bagan 4-0 in the last CFL derby this season, the 3rd round encounter of the 9th I-league ended 1-1, both the goals being scored in the 2ndhalf of the match. The match being hosted by Mohun Bagan athletic club was flanked by 80000 odd supporters from the either club although did not raise to its Monty of expectations since the Mohun Bagan being the better team couldn’t take the advantage of East Bengal team who lacked the edge on pen and paper. Although the match stated with high expectations from the Mohun Bagan supporters, the East Bengal Team started the match on their toes and grabbed the lion’s share of the possession during the first half. Mohun Bagan defended well with the likes of their new recruit Brazilian Luciano, who took the utmost care of Ranty Martins. Do dong Hyun, the Korean Mid-fielder took some chances but the limelight of the half was the 23-year-old native NE boy Bikash Jairu who tore the field apart with his pinpoint passes, cheetah speed and most importantly, through his perilous corners. The second half started with a bit laid back approach of both the teams until a cross from Bikash Jairu fell in mid-air for Ranty Martins. The talismanic striker did no error in volleying it in the back of the net past the young Bagan goalkeeper Debjit Ghosh who didn’t have much to do in the 68th minute. Bagan pressed the pedal hard after this goal and tried to increase possession. Their hard work did come into effect 10 minutes later when Cornel Glen, the new Bagan recruit this season scored from a Sony Norde Corner through the hands of the East Bengal Goalkeeper T.P.Rehenesh. East Bengal coach did what all it takes to gift a better play on the field although with the absence of key players such as Bernard Mendy and Cavin Lobo, but it is evidently clear that Mohun Bagan lost a golden opportunity to beat their arch-rivals with 4 foreigners and with a half-line that will send chills to all the clubs in this I-league 2015-2016. As it stands now, Mohun Bagan has fetched 7 points from 3 matches whereas East Bengal has 5 from similar outings.

Ltd. has undertaken a fictional adaptation “Dark Chocolate” directed by Agnidev Chatterjee. According to the maker of the film, the film has taken a fictional route to sketch the life and times of femme fatale Indrani Mukherjea without moralizing sermonizing or being didactic. The movie is to be seen as a work of art and fiction made to entertain and also narrate one of the darkest episodes of modern times. The lure for lucre is one of the poignant themes in the movie while the malice behind the beauty underlines the spine-chilling depiction. The film is shot in Hindi, English and Bengali like any urban setup. “This is one of the most shocking and diabolical crimes of our times. I have done a lot of research on the case and while I have tried to remain true to most of the case some parts have been fictionalized to keep the element of wonder alive in the movie till the very end,” said director Agnidev Chatterjee. Mahima Choudhury plays Ishani inspired by the character of Indrani Mukherjea, while Riya Sen plays Rina Bardhan inspired by Sheena Bora. Mumtaz Sorcar, Indrashis Roy, Kaushik Sen, Biswajit Chakroborty, Sudip Mukherjee, Shataf Figar, Rajesh Sharma, Rwik Basu among others play other important characters in the movie.

REVIEW: BHOOKH – THE MYSTERY, IS TRULY CREATING HUNGER FOR THE AUDIENCES

Yes! After many days of the lull here comes a Hindi flicker, a complete full-scale Hindi Feature Film from North Bengal. Yes, you heard it right. It’s Hindi and we can’t tell whether it’s the first Hindi feature film from this region or not because many of the releases go unnoticed even from the viewers. That’s the state of filmmaking here in this region. That’s the promotions made for that production made from here. Many local dialects (local languages) films were created over the last 15 years and almost all of those gone into oblivion soon after their release. Mind it, we are talking about Censor Board recognized films and not those which were released in CDs or DVDs and shown in illegal shanty video halls throughout North Bengal. Talking about this film ‘Bhookh – the mystery’ we can say it’s a brilliantly executed project and not merely a good attempt. We should not talk about the hardships which the director have gone through while accumulating non-professional resources like supporting artists, technicians, absence of low-cost equipment or the hostile red tapism. We also should not talk about how the unit managed such a full-length 2-hour thriller with such a shoestring budget of Rs. 25 lakhs. Above all, we should not talk about the passion, dedication and enthusiasm of the film crew, artist and the makers despite knowing how the market is going to behave with post-release. However, we are here to tell you something in black and white. If we go by the words of Director Kiran (the producer and director of the film) “It’s a film not to prove ourselves but to establish the long-standing thought “Kabhi yahaan bhi film industry hoga”. From the point of view of the script, the film goes a little slow as far as the editing is concerned. However, the momentum catches up just before the intermission. Since the film has no songs so the background music scores attention. The cinematic manipulations were excellently portrayed by Sujay (Cinematographer). The only single song “Lamha Lamha”, which is evident that it has been planted into giving a melodic relief between the blood hungry cannibalism is no doubt can challenge a run for the money for even the Tollywood music directors.
Bhookh scores down heavily in the dubbing section, which is evident that the spoken words are of some amateur voice over artists, who could not come out of their mother tongue accent. The chasing sequence, the camaraderie of the characters, the frame by frame transition is highly appreciable. All the credit goes to Director Kiran. Debutant Sunny, the lead character was up in his toe to deliver the best in the film. So is the villain Gautam Deb (Not the minister). One of the biggest advantages of the film is that, once the viewers sit to see the film they will remain screwed till the last scene. That is the success of the makers of Bhookh – The Mystery. It’s truly a mystery to say why did you attempt and how did it win the battle. Overall, a good execution is done in Bhookh. Expecting more to come from the makers.

In the file number 58 there was a hint weakening the point of his death in the air crash because on the said date i.e. 18th August 1945, no flight left from Taiwan which was crashed. Thus, it is apparently believed he went off to China or Soviet. In this burning issue of the national hero, Mr. Anuj Dhar, the founder of Mission Netaji and also an author has penned down a book named ‘Netaji Phirechilen’ which is translated in Bengali by Saibal Mitra, the film maker. The book is completely based on documents of the 64 declassified files. The death of the national patriot is still a mystery and there are still several documents that have to be disclosed which includes KGB archives of Russia, Mi6, Japan Intelligence files, India Intelligence Bureau files and other files from Germany and Great Britain. The central government has actively taken up the duty to solve and end the secrecy of his death, as said by Sri Chandra Kumar Bose, Official Spoke Person of Bose Family.
